Once known as Panaderia Rosetta, Café Nin was renamed after a long expansion. It isn't just fresh breads, pastries and other baked goodies that keep customers coming back for more, but (arguably) one of Mexico City's best brunch offerings. This chic cafe offers excellent coffee, pastries and small bites, plus a curated wine list.

Blend Station is the standard hangout place for laptop warriors and creative types. Fast WiFi and interesting people are what will make you come back here day after day. This stylish and modern espresso bar offers excellent fair-trade Mexican coffee and plenty of delicious breakfast and lunch options. The original location in Condesa was so popular that there is now a second branch on calle Puebla. Blend Station also has collaborations with Chop Chop bicycle stores around CDMX.

Cardinal Casa de Café consistently delivers a solidly good cup of coffee. Small place, good for a quick meet up or a long rest with a book. The baristas really know what they are doing. Their chocolate chip cookie, Nutella cookie, and orange cake are delicious as well.

Constela is a lovely coffee shop in the middle of Roma Norte. The design is very minimalistic and inviting, with creative lighting and unusual concrete wall panels. In the evening, the cafe seems to be taken straight out of Edward Hopper's Nighthawks. Great coffee and fast WiFi make Constela popular with remote workers. While you're there, do yourself a favour and order a chocolate babka — the dark chocolate pastry is to die for.

In the heart of Condesa, Hule offers a space that combines coffee and music. Enjoy simple but high quality products as well as a good vinyl selection. The space is not big, but extremely cosy. Come for coffee, listen to great music and stay for the service.

If you haven't tried the sweet, crunchy, deep-fried sticks of dough called churros yet, El Moro is the ideal place to give this local delight a go. El Moro is all about churros and hot chocolate, and it is open around the clock. Other desserts and some savoury foods are on offer as well.

The cheery wall drawings are guaranteed to set the mood for the rest of your day, especially if your visit includes an order of the establishment's fabled breakfasts. Apart from hearty breakfasts, an indisputable highlight are the artisan drinks and pizza.

Chiquitito Cafe is a small chain of little coffee shops offering a delightful selection of espresso drinks as well as some breakfast items in a homey setting. A great place to start your day or just grab your cup to go.
