The Town
The guide was updated:
Waterville Valley, incorporated as a New Hampshire town in 1829, has transformed over time into a year-round resort destination. Its location within the White Mountain National Forest initially attracted the attention of the hospitality industry, which saw the potential for tourism among the region’s scenic slopes, lakes, and rugged landscapes.
Today, much of the action is centered around the self-contained Waterville Valley Resort, where guests can dive straight into outdoor adventures no matter the season. Winter offers skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, and hockey on the resort’s pristine slopes and rinks. When the weather warms, you can switch to hiking, mountain biking, fishing, golf, and tennis. The resort also hosts community events such as carnivals and picnics.
Beyond outdoor activities, there are cultural attractions, including the Curious George Cottage and the Margret & H.A. Rey Center, which celebrate the legacy of the "Curious George" creators and offer engaging programs for all ages.
