Derry is an important commercial centre for the surrounding area, with something to suit every taste and every pocket, all within a small and accessible downtown. Foyleside Shopping Centre and Richmond Center are two larger shopping locations in the city, which is dotted with smaller stores and boutiques throughout. High-quality crafts and souvenirs can be found in the unique craft village, just off Shipquay Street. London Street, beside St. Columb’s Cathedral, is where most antiques and curios shops can be found. For food lovers, the Continental Market takes place on the first Saturday of every month on Foyle Street Square.

The famous Foyleside Shopping Centre, one of the biggest in Northern Ireland, houses all the top high street stores, as well as many smaller shops and services. The centre is well-maintained, and contains a food court alongside a variety of shopping spots.

The Derry Craft Village is an area within the city walls where a number of small shops and boutiques selling all manner of unique items are concentrated. It might just be the best place to stock up on gifts, knick-knacks, artisan jewelry and much more, all produced by local designers.

Richmond Centre

Along with Foyleside, Richmond is another large shopping center in Derry. Centrally located, it houses 40 different boutiques, among which are some major high street names. Apart from store, there are a couple of beauty salons, eateries and an ice cream shop.

Bedlam Market

For those interested in retro/vintage items, a visit to Bedlam might be worth the time. Several retailers run stands inside a large space converted into an indoor market, and sell old household items, accessories, various antiques and even military memorabilia.

At Checkpoint Charlie, it's all about the city of Derry - various souvenirs, quirky and artisan items, gifts and other memorabilia. Collectors may even get their passport stamped with a stamp of "Free Derry" to keep as memory of the visit - simply ask the owner.

The Cowley Cooper Gallery (which took over the McGilloway Gallery) showcases the work of several dozen Irish artists - paintings and sculpture, which are available for purchase. The shop serves as a tiny art galley, and is worth a visit even if to only look around.
