National Museum of Serbia
The National Museum of Serbia, established in 1844, has been housed in its current building since 1950, which was declared a Monument of Culture of Great Importance in 1979. The museum's new permanent collection spans a vast chronological range, from the Palaeolithic period to 20th-century art.
The collection is displayed across three levels, with carefully selected artefacts narrating the stories of history and the arts. The foreign collection of modern art features works by renowned artists including Giovanni di Paolo, Paolo Veneziano, Tintoretto, Van Utrecht, Rubens, Van Gogh, Mondrian, Pissarro, Degas, Monet, Renoir, Sisley, Toulouse-Lautrec, Matisse, Derain, Picasso, Kandinsky, Archipenko, and Chagall.
