Airport

The Genoa City Airport (GOA), also known as the Christopher Columbus Airport or Aeroporto di Genova-Sestri Ponente, is situated roughly 7 km away from the city centre. A shuttle bus service is available every day from 5:20 am to 11:30 pm, providing transportation to and from the railway station. The journey takes approximately 30–40 minutes, and you can purchase a ticket on board that's valid for the entire day on all city buses, subways, lifts, and metropolitan trains. Taxis can be easily found just outside the arrival terminal and are relatively inexpensive due to the airport's proximity to the city centre. If you have any questions regarding taxi fares, a tourist information stand is located in the arrival hall, and you can also contact Radio Taxi at +39 010 5966.

Italy can be visited visa-free for up to 90 days by citizens of Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Israel, UAE and most countries in America. If you are unsure whether or not you need to apply for a visa, we recommend contacting the embassy or consulate in your country. International (non-Schengen) travellers need a passport that is valid for at least 3 months after the end of their intended trip to enter the Schengen zone. Public Transport

Public Transport

Walking is the only form of transport possible in the historic centre of Genoa — the streets are too narrow for cars. However, Genoa boasts an extensive bus system operated by a company called AMT, and the tickets are available for purchase at newsstands and valid for 90 minutes. If you need to travel further afield, Genoa also has a single-line subway system marked by a red M that connects Rivaloro to the city centre and spans 8 stations. You can find ticket machines at all of the stations for your convenience. In addition to the subway and buses, Genoa has lifts and funiculars to assist locals who live uphill. Standard AMT tickets can be used for these modes of transportation, and you can find several of them scattered throughout the city.
