The best place to go shopping in Friedrichshafen is the pedestrian zone in the centre of the city. Here you can buy pretty much everything from German beer to Swiss chocolate, and shops are also good for souvenir-hunting. On the other hand, the lakeside promenade is a perfect choice for local food shopping: the mouth-watering smell of fresh Lake Constance seafood is guaranteed to boost your appetite. Bargain-hunters should not forget to visit the flea market in Friedrichshafen, where thousands of merchants open up their stalls at dawn to sell off their goods.

The city also has some larger department stores in the pedestrian zone as well as shopping malls outside of the city centre in the surrounding districts, such as in Fischbach.
