After a stroll by the sea, an intense afternoon of shopping, or a serious day of visiting La Rochelle, you will surely crave a break and a sweet treat. Good news: the city has plenty of tea houses, ice cream shops, and cafés for such a situation!
If your sweet tooth wakes up earlier than you, this beautiful port town also offers its share of brunch and breakfast spots all around town or with a sea view. Nothing beats a nice cup of coffee and a warm croissant slowly eaten while looking at the ocean!

Café de la Paix

Café de la Paix

This café has a lovely atmosphere and an elegant decor with Napoleon-style woodwork including chandeliers and large wall mirrors. Created in 1793, Café de la Paix is one of the favourite old town cafés where you can enjoy a delicious Cognac made locally in the Poitou-Charentes region.

This coffee shop, located right in front of the train station, is great for one last coffee and a French pastry before you embark on a train to a new adventure. The place is truly small but the staff are very friendly.
