Vienna State Opera
The Vienna State Opera is one of the most distinguished opera houses in the world. The magnificent building on Ringstrasse was constructed between 1861 and 1869 by August Siccardsburg and Eduard van der Nüll as Hofoperntheater (Court Opera).
Students and travellers on a budget can take advantage of the Standing room tickets. For just €10 cash you can buy a last minute ticket at the Standing Room box-office at the Operngasse entrance. Tickets go on sale 2 hours before the show. Bring a scarf to reserve your spot in the auditorium and explore the building. To deter ticket scalpers, the ticket desk will require your ID and will only sell 2 tickets per person. You will also need to pre-register on the State Opera website.
