Multiple terrorist attacks have been carried out in Pakistan in recent years, including at places of interest attractive to tourists like markets, cinemas, restaurants, and other places known to be frequented by foreigners. This applies to Peshawar especially, party due to the city's proximity to the Afghanistan border and the lawless Tribal Areas, through which guns and drugs are known to flow freely.
At the time of writing, government agencies advise against all travel to within 10 miles of the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Threat of terrorist attacks and kidnappings is imminent, and solo exploration, particularly for female travellers, is not recommended, and strongly advised against after sundown. Modesty in dress is advised, which implies loose-fitting clothing that covers shoulders and legs.

Passport & Visa
Most travellers need to apply for a visa before entering Pakistan. This can be done online through the Pakistan Online Visa System or at one of Pakistan's diplomatic missions. The tourist eVisa allows a stay of up to 30 days and must be used within 90 days of issuance. Required documents include a passport photo, a copy of the passport, a travel itinerary, and an invitation letter.
Visa on arrival is available for citizens of 65 countries, applicable to those travelling as part of an organised tour group or for business. This visa allows a 30-day stay. Nationals of the Maldives, Nepal, Samoa, Tonga, and Trinidad and Tobago enjoy visa-free entry to Pakistan.
Indian passport holders, as well as foreigners of Indian origin, face additional regulations and are not issued tourist visas. Instead, they may enter on different visa types, such as for business or religious tourism. Indian citizens, along with those from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Israel, Nigeria, Palestine, Somalia, and Uganda, must register with the police upon arrival.
For the latest information, always check with the official Pakistan Online Visa System or your nearest Pakistani diplomatic mission.

Bacha Khan International Airport (PEW)
The Bacha Khan International Airport (formerly Peshawar International Airport) is one of the busiest air hubs in the country. It services multiple destinations within Pakistan and abroad.
One of the unique features of Bacha Khan International Airport in Peshawar is that one of its main runways is crossed by the Khyber Train Safari railway line. This line, which runs to the town of Landi Kotal in the Khyber Pass, is primarily used for tourism. The train must receive clearance from the airport control tower before crossing the runway, making it one of the few airports in the world with such a feature
The airport is located a short drive away from the city centre. You can hire a rental car or taxi upon arrival. There are also local buses and vans stopping at the airport. Check the airport's website for the most popular routes.
