In Munich’s oldest concert café you can enjoy breakfast, brunch or a coffee and cake whilst listening to Chopin or Mozart from a live pianist. If you come for breakfast at Café am Beethovenplatz you are treated to homemade marmalade, whereas if it's brunch you're after then be prepared for a tall order of fresh fruits and deli meats. This traditional Bavarian cafe with a pleasant little terrace out the front is best known for its fried dough of various shapes and sizes. The krapfen and strietzel are both solid choices and the plum noodles are an interesting addition to an otherwise uncomplicated menu. Cafe Frischut has been run by the Frishut family for over 50 years so one would assume they know what they are doing.

This relaxed cafe decorated with light wooden furnishings and dark metal ornaments serves homemade organic baked goods of all kinds as well as an all day breakfast for the late risers. There is a really broad selection of vegan options at Cotidiano, including a beetroot hummus that goes great with a light lunch. Later in the day after the urge for coffee has subsided, a spritz is oftentimes a nice way to enjoy the evening here.

Modern coffee house in a grand 19th Century building specialising in handmade cakes and gourmet chocolates. This classy cake factory was featured five years consecutively in the Michelin Guide and has won numerous other awards for innovative craftsmanship. It seems a shame to eat such intricate pieces of art but the shame subsides pretty quickly when the taste comes through.
