Auerbachs Keller
The guide was updated:One of Leipzig's most renowned dining spots, Auerbachs Keller, started as a beer hall dating back to 1538. Today, it serves splendid traditional Saxon cuisine. Goethe, a regular patron, immortalised the venue by setting a scene from Faust — where Faust dines with the devil — within its walls. Visiting Auerbachs Keller, especially the Fasskeller (Barrel Cellar) where the scene from Faust is recreated, is essential when in Leipzig.
