Most travellers need to apply for a visa before entering Pakistan. This can be done online through the Pakistan Online Visa System or at one of Pakistan's diplomatic missions. The tourist eVisa allows a stay of up to 30 days and must be used within 90 days of issuance. Required documents include a passport photo, a copy of the passport, a travel itinerary, and an invitation letter.
Visa on arrival is available for citizens of 65 countries, applicable to those travelling as part of an organised tour group or for business. This visa allows a 30-day stay. Nationals of the Maldives, Nepal, Samoa, Tonga, and Trinidad and Tobago enjoy visa-free entry to Pakistan.
Indian passport holders, as well as foreigners of Indian origin, face additional regulations and are not issued tourist visas. Instead, they may enter on different visa types, such as for business or religious tourism. Indian citizens, along with those from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Israel, Nigeria, Palestine, Somalia, and Uganda, must register with the police upon arrival.
For the latest information, always check with the official Pakistan Online Visa System or your nearest Pakistani diplomatic mission.

Best Time to Visit
As a general rule, the summer months of May through August are best avoided, as this period is both uncomfortably hot and very humid, especially in August and September. Most religious celebrations take place between November and January, so plan accordingly depending on whether or not you would like to coincide with these events. Winter and early spring are best in terms of temperatures, with degrees rarely dropping into the negatives.

Public Transport
Although the walled city is entirely walkable, getting to locations across town might require using public transport. The Lahore Metrobus line connects the city's north to south, from Shahdara Terminal to Gajjumata Terminal. Tickets may be purchased at vending machines at bus stops. If speed is your priority, taking an official taxi or a qingqi (small auto rickshaw) is likely your best bet.
Lahore also has one metro line — the Orange Line. This mostly elevated train line runs perpendicular to the Metrobus.
There is also a red double-decker sightseeing bus whose route includes stops at most of Lahore's attractions. The entire loop takes approximately 2 hours to complete.
