The International Summer Festival Hamburg is held for three weeks in August at Kampnagel and at selected locations in Hamburg. The main stages are located in the former crane factory with Hamburg's most beautiful temporary beer garden. Since its founding in the mid-80s it has remained among the largest European festivals for contemporary performance arts from around the world. Every year the festival presents and/or produces more than 50 different works in the areas of dance, theatre, performance, music, visual arts and film.
