This is one of the largest traditional art galleries in Germany, housing a medieval art collection with an almost complete collection of local painting on wood dating from 1300 to 1550. There are also sections dedicated to Renaissance, Impressionist and Baroque art. The last one includes works by Rubens, Rembrandt and Van Dyck.

The NS Documentation Center is a museum that commemorates the victims of the Nazi regime and houses an exhibition on political, social and community life in Cologne during the Nazi era.
