Just 45 minutes south of Fukuoka city you will find Yanagawa city, known for the waterway that crosses it in two directions. A trip on one of the small boats is a must, as well as a visit to Ohana, where you will find Shoto Park. While in Yanagawa, try the delicious unagi (eel) dishes which the city is renowned for.

The de Pals golf course is located on the farmland of Arenals del Mar, among a stunning pine forest. The club boasts 18 pristine holes, as well as a welcoming clubhouse with dining, a TV room and a games room, as well as a shop and facilities for rental equipment.

White sand and turquoise water are the key ingredients to Monastir's beaches. The most obvious choice would be to head straight to Karaia (Qaraiya) beach, which is one of the focal points of the city. However, it does get very busy in high season. For those willing to venture a little further afield for some R&R, the beaches of Sousse such as Bou Jaafar and Las Vegas Beach are particularly beautiful. The coast between Monastir and Sousse is a bit more utilitarian but could prove to be an interesting adventure as the locals will often come there to cast a fishing line on the beaches and for all horse lovers, there is riding and racing further inland at the Monastir Hippodrome and the Eki Club. Just beware that there is not a lot of shade on offer along the waterfront, so be sure to pack the SPFs.

Jardin de Planbuisson is a charming botanical garden with a unique collection of bamboo. There are nearly 180 species of bamboo here as well as trees, shrubs, perennials and herbs, all making up a unique collection not to be found anywhere else in Europe.
