The three Art Nouveau kiosks by architect Ernesto Basile appear like unexpected gems along the buzzing streets of Palermo. Built about the end of the 19th century, the kiosks once hosted the traditional Sicilian vendors of soft drinks and refreshing beverages but are today converted into tobacconists. Chiosco Ribaudo located in Piazza Verdi, the most famous one, is a crimson and wrought iron building adorned with golden letters. The second Ribaudo kiosk in Piazza Castelnuovo is decorated with colourful majolica and mosaics while the Chiosco Vicari, in front of the Teatro Massimo, is a triumph of Moorish, Islamic, and Colonial architecture.

Antoni Gaudi's ambitious project remains, as of today, unfinished, which by no means takes away its massive popularity, receiving nearly 4.5 million visitors every year. The Basílica de la Sagrada Família, or simply La Sagrada Família, is a large unfinished Roman Catholic minor basilica, considered the best example of Modernist architecture. Meticulously crafted to embody the Christian faith through composition, sculpture, and individualistic, offbeat design, this masterpiece is the kind of attraction that has to be experienced to be believed. Known for its clear water, this public beach is bigger than Mazzarò Lido and certainly more relaxing: in fact it's one of the locals' most frequented spots, as it doesn't often bustle with tourists. The tiny rock islands emerging from the blue surface complete the picture of this natural landscape.
