National Tile Museum is devoted to the quintessentially Portuguese tiles seen so frequently on buildings across the country. The collection is housed in a monastery, the varying architectural styles and decorations of which give a quick walkthrough the country's major movements. One of the highlights is an enormous tiled fresco which shows Lisbon as it was just before the big earthquake in 1755.

At Chinatown’s Sun Pictures you can experience the world's oldest picture garden. Soak up the nostalgia sitting back in deck chairs at the world’s oldest operating open-air picture theatre and view the latest releases. While you no longer have to lift your feet as visitors did in the early days due to tidal flooding, a night at this rustic tin shack of a cinema is a delightful new experience for every cinephile. Tickets can be purchased when the doors open, about 30 mins before the first screening.

Only an hour's drive from Melbourne is the Mornington Peninsula. Here you can visit wineries, some of the finest beaches, hot springs and even swim with dolphins. The peninsula is also home to a few incredible art galleries, as well as glass-blowing workshops.

Although entry into the shrine is allowed to Hindus alone, visitors of any religious denomination can marvel at the 30-metre-high golden gate (gopura) towering right next to the Fort. The sizeable structure is among the world's richest in terms of valuable metals and precious stones used in its interior decor. Its early origins remain steeped in mystery.
