A small village called La Chole, located only 25 minutes away from Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, houses a fascinating archaeological site. Since the 1930's many artifacts have been found here, such as jewelry linked to many cultures, including the Tarascan, Aztec, Toltec and Olmec. You can also visit an onsite museum with many of these astonishing findings.

The Palacio Real de Madrid — the official residence of the Spanish royal family in the city — is Europe's largest royal palace, boasting a whopping surface area of 135,000 square meters and a staggering 3,418 rooms. This architectural marvel is not only visually stunning, but also features spectacular outdoor gardens and exquisite frescoes, furnishings, and paintings within its walls. Originally constructed in 1764 as a replacement for the Alcázar castle, which had been destroyed by fire three decades earlier, this magnificent edifice is a must-see attraction for visitors to Madrid. Nearly the entire palace is open to the public, including the Armoury and Pharmacy.

Winterfest has developed into one of the biggest festivals for modern circus artistry in the German-speaking world. From the end of November until the beginning of January, only the very best circus troupes get to perform under the big tents in the Volksgarten. Visitors can look forward to an exciting program of side events, compelling acrobatics and a colourful culinary offer.

The imposing Bala Hissar Fort was once the seat of Afghan Durrani royals. Ownership was transferred to the Sikhs in the 19th century, with the fort eventually being rebuilt by the British to achieve its current look. Bala Hisar now houses the paramilitary forces of Pakistan, making it difficult to look inside, but an on-site museum is open to the public.
