It's one of branches of the National Museum in Szczecin, where we present the newest history of Szczecin and West Pomerania region, with particular attention given to social protests and breaking events in the years 1970–1971, 1980–1981, 1988–1989, that lead Poland to regain independence in 1989. The building that houses our museum is partially hidden under the Solidarity Square. The exhibition is interactive, apart from subject-related pieces, in its underground rooms you may see films, pictures and recordings of the events’ witnesses and participants. Location of the museum has not been chosen by an accident - it was here when on 17 December 1970 first shots were fired at the protesters. In July 2016, the Dialogue Centre Upheavals was ranked the Best Public Space in Europe. Four months later, on November 18, the same building was named World Building of the Year during the Festival of Architecture in Berlin.

The Unos Torn observation deck, Designed by local architect Tommy Lyberg, offers a magnificent view over the city and Gamlebyviken. Initially, the tower stood at 15 metres, but after an additional donation in 1998, the structure grew 3 metres. Today, it stands 18 metres tall, with the viewing platform situated 34 metres above sea level.

Gladhammar Mines, among Sweden's oldest, reveal a rich history of metal extraction dating back to the 12th century. The site, once pivotal in cobalt and copper mining, now offers a glimpse into its industrious past with informative displays and scenic spots for visitors to enjoy. A short trail leads past the mines to a serene lake, perfect for a reflective stroll. Although the deep shafts are safely cordoned off, the area remains a captivating destination for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

The scenic views from Astypalaia's hilltop Venetian castle reward those who dare to make the climb - although little remains of the castle itself, the views of the whitewashed houses leading to the azure waters of Aegaen are simply spectacular.
