Travelling eastward from Marmaris takes you along the famous Lycian coast. Near the Dalyan River, about 80 kilometres east of Marmaris, are the spectacular rock tombs of Kaunos, and untamed scenery. The Loggerhead turtle comes here to lay its eggs on the beaches. The river’s mud is used for therapeutic clay packing, which is regarded as very health-giving. You can come here on excursion bus or dolmus taxi.

The Mosque of the Divinity outside of Dakar fuses modernism and traditional Islamic architecture. Its two towers serve as ideal lookout points over the vast ocean waters surrounding Senegal. This imposing 14th-century Gothic cathedral stands tall atop the old Roman and Renaissance city walls, looking out over Palma's harbour and old town. It was built over hundreds of years on the ruins of the mosque that once stood there. Famous Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí had a hand in the restoration project early in the 20th century, though he quit the project over a dispute with the contractor.
