Step back in time and experience the sights and sounds of Britain's Home Front. Wander around the original tunnels, authentically re-equipped, which provide you with first-hand experience of daily life in 1940s wartime Britain. Enjoy the displays and the state-of-the-art audio-guide which tell the stories of local people who shared the experience of the war. Opened in 1939, the shelters were the largest purpose-built civilian air raid shelters in the country designed to provide shelter for up to 3,850 people. They were extended in 1940-41 to accommodate 6,500. In 1996 Stockport Council re-opened the shelters as a visitor attraction and this unique, award-winning museum became one of Stockport’s most significant attractions and educational facilities. Excavated into the natural sandstone cliffs of the town centre, the mile-long network of underground tunnels offers visitors direct and exceptional insights into life on the Home Front.

Now housing the Banat History Museum, this magnificent 14th century palace (the oldest monument still standing in the city) was built by John Hunyadi during the reign of the Hungarian king Carol Robert and redesigned by the Hapsburgs in the late 18th century.

The Museum of Contemporary Art exhibits avant-garde art, part of the Arteast 2000+ international collection, as well as artwork by Slovene artists belonging to the national collection. The Arteast 2000+ collection tells the tale of the overlooked and often censored creativity of artists from the then Eastern Bloc. Occasionally, the museum displays new exhibits, thus actively expanding its collection.

If Timisoara is called "the city of flowers" it is largely due to this amazing park that offers a wide array of different, colourful flowers and lots of white benches that combine to create an extremely romantic atmosphere. Also, this park is pretty close to Bega River, so if you still feel like walking a bit, you should definitely check it out as well.
