Cologne’s main opera house stages a mix of classic and contemporary productions, from Mozart to modern composers. The resident company is strong, and visiting performers keep the programme varied. The building itself is modern and a bit divisive—some love it, some don’t—but the acoustics are excellent.

Right at the base of the Alcazaba, this is Malaga’s oldest surviving structure — built in the 1st century BC during the reign of Emperor Augustus. It was in use for a few hundred years, then mostly forgotten. When the Moors arrived, they used stones from the theatre to help build the Alcazaba above it. For centuries, it was completely buried. It wasn’t rediscovered until the 1950s, when construction workers stumbled on it by accident. These days, it’s been partly restored and open to the public. You can walk around the site and even catch the occasional open-air performance in summer.

Baron Bliss Light is a lighthouse that was built in 1885 and named after Henry Edward Ernest Victor Bliss, also known as Baron Bliss, a British philanthropist and benefactor of Belize. The lighthouse stands at the end of a breakwater and marks the entrance to Belize City's harbor. It is an iconic landmark and an important navigational aid for ships entering and leaving the harbor. Baron Bliss Light is also a popular tourist attraction, offering spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea and the city skyline.
