A nearly uninterrupted 14-kilometre stretch of sand extends from Geraki to Laganas, forming one of the last major nesting sites for the endangered loggerhead turtle. To protect the species, much of Laganas Bay is designated as a National Marine Park, where powered water sports are prohibited. Despite these conservation efforts, the resort of Laganas itself remains the island's largest and most bustling centre for nightlife, known for its concentration of pubs, bars, and clubs. For a quieter experience, a narrow wooden footbridge connects the coast near Agios Sostis Beach to the small and picturesque Cameo Island.

In the early 16th century, the Augustinian Friars built St Andrew’s Church in the popular St Andrew’s neighbourhood. Inside, you can see stunning Baroque altars and works of art from the 17th century.

Nantes is a cyclist’s paradise, sitting at the crossroads of two major bike routes—La Vélodyssée (EuroVelo 1) and La Loire à Vélo (EuroVelo 6). With over 794 km of bike paths, more than 4,500 bike parking spots, and 21,000 racks scattered around the city, getting around on two wheels is both easy and enjoyable here.

Erected in 1982 close to the Botanical Garden Hamma, "Mémorial du Martyr" commemorates the Algerian war of independence. It symbolises three palm leaves with a burning flame of eternity beneath, and honours people killed in the war between the 1950s and the 1960s.
