On the edge of Cairo, the Giza Necropolis is home to the last remaining wonder of the ancient world — the Great Pyramid of Khufu. Alongside it stand the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, part of a vast complex that includes tombs, causeways, temples, and smaller pyramids built for queens and nobles. The scale alone is enough to stop you in your tracks. Just below the pyramids sits the Great Sphinx of Giza — carved from a single piece of limestone, with the body of a lion and the face of a pharaoh, likely Khafre. At around 73 metres long and 20 metres high, it’s one of the largest sculptures in the world.

Åkulla's beautiful beech forests are located about 25 km east of Varberg. The area is famous for its outstanding viewing points, numerous lakes and hiking trails. If you're looking to spend a few nights in the forests, there are various lodgings that welcome tourists throughout the year, experiencing a particular peak in winter when the nearby ski resort comes to life.

The panorama of Vodice is dominated by the Okit hill and the church of Our Lady of Carmel built on the foundations of an old small chapel. Today, the Way of the Cross leads to the hill with fourteen small chapels and each designates one station of the Way. The modern appearance of the church of Our Lady of Carmel is the work of Nikola Bašić, an architect from Zadar.

One of the most important archaeological museums in Italy, Brescia's City Museum is housed in the 8th-century monastery of Santa Giulia, which was founded by the Lombard King, Desiderio. This museum is well-worth seeing, not only for the huge quantity of exhibits, but also for the beauty of the buildings: the 8th-century Basilica of San Salvatore, the 12th century church of Santa Maria in Solario (see the stunning 16th-century frescoes in the oratory) and the 16th-century church of Santa Giulia. Closed on non-holiday Mondays.
