As Thailand’s premier snake research and conservation centre, the Snake Farm offers visitors a rare glimpse into the world of these often misunderstood reptiles. Wander the grounds to see native snakes, from King Cobras to pit vipers, and catch live demonstrations, short talks, and interactive displays. It’s both educational and a little thrilling — a safe way to get up close with snakes while learning about conservation.

Basilica of Superga was built by the orders of Duke Vittorio Amedeo II, in the 18th century. It is infamous for being the place where the plane carrying the soccer team Toro crashed during the 1940s. Superga is located on top of the hill bordering Turin, from where you have a wonderful view of both the city and the Alps. To get there, you can take a bus, a mountain railway or a long-distance footpath, hence it is also the ideal destination for a hike during a clear day. Turin is surrounded by almost 700 km of hiking paths. The Basilica di Superga, along with the Victory Lighthouse at Colle della Maddalena, is one of the most popular destinations for hiking and trekking tours of the region.

The main entrance to the Archaeological Museum of Istria (Arheoloski Muzej Istre) is actually one of the original gates that served as an entry point into the old Roman town. The museum carries a fascinating range of archaeological artefacts from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages from the region. You will find architectural highlights on the ground floor, Neolithic and Roman era finds on the first floor, Roman antiquities and medieval period artefacts on the second floor. Due to reconstruction works, closed during 2018 and beginning 2019.

The two-week long Ati-atihan festival takes place the third Sunday of January each year. People throughout the Philippines wear elaborate fancy dress costumes and make-up. They party with music, dances and carnivals. The religious festival is held in a nearby municipality and is in honour of the Holy Infant Jesus, a patron saint of the Cebu region.
