Explore the history of the various prehistoric farmers who settled in Ireland, from the Mesolithic period to the time of the Norman Invasion (1169). Reconstructed dwellings such as a mesolithic camp, a neolithic farmstead, a portal dolmen, a cyst grave, stone circle, medieval ringfort, monastic site, crannóg (ancient lake dwelling) and a Viking harbour are spread across 35 acres of parkland, estuary trails and wetland forest. The park also runs demonstrations on traditional rural life skills from blacksmithing to gold panning. This is a truly immersive experience exploring Ireland's roots and forgotten traditions.

Corcoran Pond, fed by mountain streams, boasts beautifully clear waters perfect for a day of outdoor fun. Right next to Town Square, you can rent a variety of watercraft, including kayaks, canoes, and pedal boats. The kayaks are stable and easy to paddle, while the canoes offer great maneuverability. Pedal boats can accommodate up to two adults and three children, making them ideal for families. The pond also features a sandy beach, perfect for relaxing by the water.

Located between Great Bay and Little Bay in the southern part of the island, Fort Amsterdam dates back nearly four centuries. It was constructed by Dutch settlers who claimed the island in 1631 and utilized shortly thereafter in battle with Spanish occupiers. There isn't much left of the fort itself, but the surrounding nature is spectacular. Wear comfortable shoes and look out for iguanas.
