Debrecen’s symbol is one of the nation’s largest Reformed churches, a building of major historic significance. It was here that Lajos Kossuth read out the Declaration of Independence on April 14, 1849. The wing chair used by the Regent-President on that glorious occasion is one of the church’s most precious relics. The main structure has been rebuilt several times. Today’s familiar Classicist form was developed after the great fire of 1802. You can enjoy magnificent views of the city from the top of the towers, or the steel bridge behind the tympanum. If you are courageous enough to attempt the steep climb up, your added bonus will be a spectacular close-up of the 5.6-ton Rákóczi Bell. In addition to regular services, exhibits of religious history, organ concerts and other musical events are also on the schedule. The church has held the status of national monument since 2013.

Leicester Square is a pedestrianised square surrounded by a number of nationally significant cinemas with some of the city’s biggest screens, as well as a variety of restaurants. The Odeon Leicester Square, Empire, Leicester Square is often used for film premieres, so why not do a bit of Hollywood star-spotting while you're in London. The lush garden in the middle of the square is the perfect spot for cooling off in summer or resting your feet. Cinephiles should definitely check out the programme of the Prince Charles Cinema. This independent cinema does screenings of cult films and marathon film runs.

The dazzlingly colourful Sri Mahamariamman Temple is the cultural and religious hub of George Town’s ‘Little India’ quarter, home to immigrants from the subcontinent for more than a century. Encrusted with garishly painted statues of deities, demons, and mythical creatures, the Sri Mahamariamman is the oldest of the city’s Hindu temples and is still in daily use. Inside stands a valuable statue of the Hindu deity Lord Subramanya, lavishly embellished with gold and precious stones.

Lined with shops, bars and cafes, Kalelarga is the biggest and busiest street in Zadar. Following the trail of the ancient Decumanus Maximus built by the Romans, it's the place where people in Zadar come for socialising and having fun and where many events take place all year round.
