The National Museum houses a wonderful collection of well over 830,000 objects from all epochs — from antiquity to contemporary times. Here you will find works of both Polish and world art, including such gems as Jewess with Oranges by Aleksander Gierymski and the large-format Battle of Grunwald by Jan Matejko. Visit the Gallery of Medieval Art to see the unique artefacts there or visit the biggest collection of Nubian cultural artefacts and art in Europe. On the outskirts of Malmö lies a rural oasis that emanates a sense of peace and harmony. Katrinetorp, an early 19th-century "landeri" (country estate), was originally designed as a summer residence and a venue for grand receptions. Today, the city of Malmö runs the place, and they are constantly working on recreating its former glory. Markets, music entertainment, events, and exhibitions are held here annually. It recently opened its new exhibition hall "The Stables,” which also has a high-end gift shop. Katrinetorp lies 10 minutes from the city centre of Malmö, which makes the big city no more than a stone’s throw away from this idyllic scenery.

The National Gallery of Ireland was established by an Act of Parliament in 1854. Today, the collection includes over 2,500 paintings and almost 10,000 other works of Irish and European art, including watercolours, drawings, prints, and sculptures.

On the promontory in front of the one-time cemetery a girl of stone extend her arm to a gull. This, however, is a new sculpture, the work of a sculptor Car, and it was erected here in 1956 and turned into one of Opatija’s symbols.
