A decree made by the government of the Dubrovnik Republic in 1546 allowed Jews to settle within the city ramparts. This officially marked the establishment of the Jewish Ghetto on the street called Žudioska. In 1652, one of the houses was turned into a Synagogue, whose interior is in the baroque style. It has been preserved to this day, with minor changes, and is one of the oldest synagogues in Europe. The first floor houses a museum with a number of religious artefacts and archives, Rococo, baroque and Louis XVI furniture and paintings by Italian masters.

The Calgary Folk Music Festival has been an annual staple for both Calgarians and tourists since 1980. The Maritime Museum is located on the First and Second Floors of Fort St John’s. The exhibits on the First Floor give an overview of the development of Dubrovnik maritime trade and shipbuilding from its very start to the fall of the Dubrovnik Republic. The exhibits on the Second Floor show the resurgence of maritime trade in Dubrovnik and on the Pelješac Peninsula during the 19th century, as well as the strength of Dubrovnik steamships up until World War II and afterwards.
