The first stone blocks to the church foundation walls were broken in 1875 in Kenttärova. The same year F. R. Ekberg completed the drawings of the architect. The Royal Majesty, however, decided in 1877, that the church and schoolhouse would be built in the same area: Nivankorvanmaa. A significant restoration occurred in 1941, addressing structural and interior changes, and the church was reconsecrated in 1942. The restoration included new pews, removal of the heating stove, and electric lighting.

The Botanical Garden is a baroque garden in which more than 8,000 species from all over the world are grown. Enjoy the light, the greenery, and the tranquillity of the tropical greenhouse, visit the majestic rooms of the orangery, or just have a stroll around the gardens. The café is open during the summer, and there's also a programme of exhibitions, concerts, courses, and children’s activities. Admission is free.

Even if ancient ruins aren't your cup of tea, a trip to an archaeological site is worth the detour. The journey will take you through the quaint countryside, threading through small towns and villages that might otherwise escape your notice. Just a few kilometres from the holiday resort of Altinkum, in Yenihisar, you'll find Didyma — home to a grand temple dedicated to Apollo. Didyma was more than a religious site; its oracle rivalled the fame of Delphi's. While the original temple was destroyed by the Persians around 400 BC, the existing ruins hail from the Roman times. The remnants of 120 columns stand as testament to the temple's once monumental size.

This is a living museum designed to capture how the indigenous tribes of Mandanao island lived in centuries past, including replica houses and crafts, as well as regular tribal shows. The village stands in tropical gardens with panoramic views out over the coastline.
