Nowhere else in the world is there a reflective sundial of this size, and astronomers from all countries come to Horloge Solaire to study the sundial, which still keeps the time today. In 1673, under Louis the XIV, the Jesuit, Father Bonfa, and his pupils painted frescoes covering 100 square meters of the walls.

Francisco de Goya, our most universal artist, was born in a village near Zaragoza called Fuendetodos. The Palacio de Los Pardo is home to the Goya Museum, dedicated to the writer and professor who bequeathed his private collection of paintings and sculptures to the city. The works exhibited span the 15th to the 20th century. Particularly noteworthy is the room dedicated exclusively to five series of etchings by Goya: Los Caprichos, La Tauromaquia, Los Disparates or Proverbios, Los Desastres de la Guerra and Los Toros de Burdeos.

The Scottish Parliament Building at the foot of the Royal Mile is a striking, award-winning complex designed by the late Catalan architect Enric Miralles. Opened in 2004, its unconventional forms are deeply symbolic, intended to represent an open, well-rooted democracy.
