The oldest surviving building of the Namibian capital was originally built to house the German colonial troops in the late 19th century, later going on to become a museum for Namibia's struggle for independence, as well as a historic landmark in itself. The controversial Reiterdenkmal, an alleged symbol of German dominance in the region, has been relocated from its original place opposite the Christuskirche into the yard of Alte Feste for storage. The interior space is closed for public visits as of mid-2019; a few wartime exhibits are showcased out front.

Founded in 1911, the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) started with just nine pieces on display. Today, it boasts an impressive collection of over 40,000 works, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, and more. NOMA is renowned for its diverse collections of French, Japanese, African, and American art, as well as photography and glass. The museum's Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden is a stunning five-acre outdoor gallery featuring some of America's most significant sculptural works. Set beneath a canopy of live oaks and Spanish moss, the garden offers a captivating experience for art lovers.

Byfield National Park is a forested recreation area stretched along the coastline with a view out to the Keppel Islands group. Enormous sand dunes and a picturesque coastal scenery dominate the southern part of the park, while in the north you can hike through rainforest and take a bath in Stony Creek, one of the best local fresh-water swimming holes in the area. The park is perfectly suited for a host of outdoor activities like camping, picnicking, walking, four-wheel driving, boating and fishing, cycling, and even horse riding.
