Located on the outskirts of Montpellier, Château de la Mogère is a magnificent 18th-century castle surrounded by sprawling gardens and vineyards. This historic estate, once a residence of Montpellier nobility, showcases classic French architecture with its elegant façade and meticulously landscaped grounds. The château is renowned for its well-preserved interiors, featuring lavish furnishings and period details that offer a glimpse into the aristocratic lifestyle of the past. Schloss Benrath (Benrath Palace) was built as a pleasure and hunting palace for the Elector Carl Theodor. Today, the ensemble in its artistic unity of buildings, interior and gardens, 60 hectares in all, is considered one of Europe’s rare complete works of art of the late baroque period. The main palace building (corps de logis), with its furniture, porcelain, paintings, etc., gives an impression of court life in the second half of the 18th century. The eastern wing houses the “Museum für Europäische Gartenkunst” (Museum of European Garden Art) and the western wing the “Museum für Naturkunde” (Museum of Natural Sciences).

The famous composer Donizetti was born in Bergamo, and lived there from 1806 to 1815. An opera festival is dedicated to him and it takes place at the Donizetti Theater in Bergamo every year from September to December.
