Having functioned continuously as an educational institution since its establishment in 1538, the college is the cradle of Hungarian civilization Designated as a national monument in 2013, it also features a museum that has permanent exhibits displaying the school’s history, student life, and the religious art of the Reformed Church in the Trans-Tisza Region. Your visit here will help you understand why Debrecen became the most important bastion of the Reformed faith in Hungary. Bedecked with majestic murals, the building’s stairwell leads to the entrance of the gigantic library storing more than 600,000 volumes, the Csokonai Room and the Oratory that housed Hungary’s National Assembly in 1849.

This busy square sits at the southern end of Bordeaux’s Old Town and is a popular hangout, especially among students. The 18th-century Porte d’Aquitaine marks one of the city’s old entrances, while a tall obelisk and two bronze tortoises — added in 2005 by Czech sculptor Ivan Theimer — celebrate Bordeaux’s wine culture. Look closely and you’ll spot grape clusters and appellations carved into the sculptures. Around the square, you’ll find casual bars, kebab shops, and small boutiques. It’s more a spot to grab a drink or soak up the atmosphere than a must-see, but it’s a good place to get a feel for local life.

This theatre, only a 5-minute walk from the historical centre, tells the story behind the typical Sicilian puppet theatre. Visitors can both see and hold a puppet. If you wish to watch a show, bear in mind that there is a summer break.

Museo del Cinema – detailing the history of cinematography and featuring quite a few cinematic memorabilia and posters – is one of four in the small museum complex (others include the ones dedicated to radio, maps of Sicily and WWII).
