Fundació Mona is a pioneering primate rehabilitation centre dedicated to rescuing and caring for chimpanzees and macaques recovered from abusive situations like circuses, the advertising industry and the illegal pet trade. Here, primates regain physical and emotional health while living in social family groups within large, naturalistic enclosures. Visits are educational and ethically focused: guided by expert staff, you’ll learn about primate behaviour, conservation challenges, and the stories of individual animals. Advance booking is essential, and tours emphasise respect for the residents’ well-being over entertainment. Through its work, Mona raises awareness about wildlife trafficking, species extinction, and the importance of protecting our closest evolutionary relatives.

The monumental Masjid Nasional Al-Akbar is a spectacular modern mosque, one of the most imposing in Southeast Asia, let alone Indonesia itself. Access is open to visitors, and the top of one of its minarets offers spectacular views over the city (staff will guide you to the elevator on request).

Just north of Girona lies the Lake of Banyoles, a crystal clear body of water about 2 kilometres long, favoured particularly by rowers. Stroll, swim or row your way around the picturesque lake, and stop for a rest, a snack and a coffee at the nearby establishments in the town of Banyoles.

The Palazzi dei Rolli is an open-air museum located in the heart of Genoa, showcasing a collection of palaces constructed during the 16th and 17th centuries to house the most influential aristocratic families of Genoa. This project also resulted in the reorganization of the street system in the historic centre, known today as 'Strade Nuove', which includes Via Garibaldi, Via Cairoli, Via Bensa, and Via Balbi. Visitors can explore the area and admire the buildings, such as Palazzo Rosso from the 17th century, as well as Palazzo Bianco and Palazzo Doria Tursi, both from the 16th century.
