A trip with a dog team, wrapped up in warm blankets under the northern lights, is a superb way of experiencing the countryside of Norrland. There's a good chance you’ll encounter an elk or a reindeer, too. The National Monument, or Monas, rises from the centre of Merdeka Square as a symbol of Indonesia’s independence. Visitors can take a lift to the viewing deck for wide views over the city or explore the museum at its base, which traces the country’s struggle for freedom. The surrounding park is a favourite spot for locals to stroll, grab street food, or rest in the shade.

If you want to enjoy the stunning desert of Fuerteventura, Corralejo Natural Park is the best place to go. With its long coast (2.5 by 10.5 kilometres), this island has two different landscapes to offer to its excited visitors: in the north, you can admire the biggest dune of the Canary Islands, whereas in the south you can enjoy a stunning volcanic landscape.

Montaña de Tindaya is a sacred mountain renowned for its natural, geological, and historic significance. Still known as "The Mountain of Witches", the mountain is associated with the times of myth and magic — there are 213 engravings from prehistoric times dotted around the hillsides. On clear days, hikers may catch a glimpse of Tenerife and Gran Canaria from the summit of the mountain. The hike is suitable for all experience levels. NOTE: This mountain is a protected area for several species of birds, and hikers must seek a permit from ‘Consejería de Medio Ambiente’ before setting foot on the mountain.
