The grand, fairy-tale castle-like main building in Timrå was built in 1883–1885 as a summer residence for the timber magnate Fredrik Bünsow, who was one of Sweden's most powerful timber barons at the time. The architects were Isak Gustaf Clason and Fritz Eckert. Clason is known for designing the Nordic Museum and Hallwyl Palace in Stockholm. The beautiful castle (or Villa Merlo, as it is actually called) is now a cultural heritage site and houses Svenska Cellulosa's central archive. In the summer, you can take a guided tour to see the many rooms and halls that still retain their former glory. Even the garden alone is well worth a visit.

Stretching 16 km from Woods Hole to North Falmouth, the Shining Sea Bikeway is a picturesque trail that showcases the best of Cape Cod’s natural beauty. This paved path winds through salt marshes, cranberry bogs, serene woodlands, and along breathtaking coastal vistas. Bike rentals are conveniently available at both ends, making it easy to hop on and explore whether you're a seasoned cyclist or a casual rider.

In July and August you can make boat tours on the Maas River, from the fortified town of Heusden. The tour boat, Wiljo, departs from the Molensteiger, the windmill base at the harbour at 13.30 and 15.00. The route runs along the Maas River and passes through the Heusden Canal (a man-made section of the river), past the village of Wijk & Aalburg and into the “dead end“ of the original Maas River and, after an hour of sailing, the boat returns to Heusden. Various drinks can be bought on board, both on the upper deck and in the cosy room below deck.

Sicily’s most famous composer is Vincenzo Bellini, who was born in Catania (1801-1835). His operas 'Norma', 'La Straniera' and 'Sonnambula' are famous all over the world. Museo Civico Belliniano is claimed to be one of the nicest in Catania, exhibiting pianos and memorabilia.
