Pamukkale really is one of nature’s wonders. There are terraces with pools, and the water runs down from one level to the next in a natural spectacle created by white lime deposits. The name means ”The Cotton-wool Fortress.” Unfortunately, too many visitors have created a lot of wear and tear on the cliffs, and now most of the pools are closed to the public. There are daily excursions here, but you can also take the local bus. The travelling time is about 3.5 hours.

The pleasant park just outside the city centre is great for an evening stroll, daytime picnic, or even a morning jog. Plenty of shaded areas make for great places to get away from the summer heat in the grass. There are a few duck-inhabited ponds here.

This landmark may be the most visited and photographed monument of Key West. It was created to bear a resemblance to a buoy and is supposed to point out the southernmost location in the continental U.S. It is only 90 miles to Cuba and if you squint you might actually catch sight of the island on a bright and sunny day.

If you're into small design shops head for Elmegade or Jægersborggade, and if you like antiques Ravnsborggade is the place for you to head to. At Sankt Hans Torv and the streets around it, you have plenty of choices for dinner and drinks. At Assistens Cemetery, you can visit the graves of famous Danes, such as the famous fairy tale writer Hans Christian Andersen or philosopher Søren Kierkegaard.
