Scattered throughout the Old Town, these twelve churches are among the oldest buildings in Cologne—most of them date back to the 12th and 13th centuries. They’ve all got that heavy Romanesque look, but each one’s a bit different. Great St. Martin stands out with its massive tower right by the river, St. Gereon has got an unusual oval dome, and St. Maria im Kapitol is one of the largest. You don’t need to see all twelve, but stopping in at a couple while you’re exploring the Old Town gives you a good feel for the city’s medieval side.

The town of Grand Case has gained the status of St Martin's gourmet capital. A number of world-class restaurants are located in traditional huts and the village is home to the last remaining wattle houses. In January, a Caribbean jazz festival with bands and orchestras takes place.

Step back in time aboard an historic Tall Ship, in the tradition of those sailors who first sailed into Sydney Harbour back in 1788. These restored antique ships come complete with a crew of old salts — your hosts for the day. You are welcome to get involved and help hoist the sails, take a turn steering the ship or simply sit back and relax. For exhilaration and awe-inspiring views, you can scale a mast in the Mast Climb experience.

Hawaii’s most famous landmark, the Diamond Head, is a volcanic crater with a 360-degree view over the island, and its name comes from English sailors who thought its calcite crystals were pure diamonds. The scenic hike up to the summit, taking the so-called stairway to heaven, will not be soon forgotten, and so it happens to the views from atop.
