The most famous and picturesque cathedral in Montreal, Notre-Dame Basilica, is sure to leave an impression. Walk through the nave, across the dark blue floor, watched over by the large statues, to reach the impressive altar. The Basilica is a breathtaking sight, one that will most likely put you in a meditative state.

The Museum of Fine Arts in Montreal is praised by the overwhelming majority of its visitors, and for good reason: it has the largest collection of fine art in Canada, as well as a continuous rotation of exhibitions. Just like the city itself, the museum showcases two sides to art: historical and modern.

Named after Erechtheus, king of Athens and foster son of Athena, the Erechtheion is an ancient Greek temple on the north side of the Acropolis dedicated to both Athena and Poseidon. This intricate temple was designed to accommodate the radically uneven ground on the site and to avoid disturbing sacred shrines like the altars to Poseidon, the sacred olive tree, a well containing sea water, the tomb of Kekrops, and the Pandrosion sanctuary.

Mizen Head on the Mizen Peninsula is Ireland's mainland most southwesterly point. Breathtaking cliffs, beautiful views, lively sea life and educational experiences can all be found here. Head right away to the Visitor Centre, where you'll learn more about the history of this place, which is home to a signal station that housed Ireland's first radio beacon. Then, climb down the 99 steps that lead to a high arched suspension bridge connecting a rocky crag to the mainland, until you find yourself at the signal station, where another exciting exhibition awaits. Out on the horizon, you can spot the imposing Fastnet Lighthouse standing on a rock known as Ireland’s teardrop.
