Located at the confluence of the Nemunas and Neris rivers, this impressive brick castle was built in the 14th century at the beginning of the Teutonic attacks. Unique for its double walls and the surrounding tunnel, many events and legends of Lithuanian history are attributed to it. Today, the castle is home to various temporary and permanent programs all year round. Join educational trips and exhibitions, mould a stove tile, and try your knowledge with the Castle Quiz. Just opposite the castle, St. George the Martyr Church is also worth a visit, for it is an important landmark of Roman Catholicism.

Through interactive exhibits, ground-breaking programs, live demonstrations, and exciting films, both grown-ups and kids can explore the wonder of science at the California Science Center. The STS Endeavor and IMAX cinema are only a couple of must-sees. Bring a lot of time along, as you will most probably want to wander around for hours.

For a scenic day trip, head to the beautiful and secluded Yushan Island. Tourist infrastructure is limited here, with only a few resorts and a picturesque lighthouse set against the backdrop of crystal-blue seawater. At night, you might even witness the magical blue tears, a phenomenon of mysterious blue lights spotted along Yushan Island's shores, caused by small crustaceans that are washed up on the island's beaches by the rising tides.
