The Saint-Francis of Sales Church, listed as a historical monument, is located near the Palais de l'Île, across the Thiou river. Even if the facade seems a bit austere, the interior of the church is luxurious: the baroque style is expressed through an organ, paintings and a magnificent altar. This church used to host religious relics, such as the graves of Saint Francis and Saint Joan of Chantal, which were there before being transported to the Visitation Basilica.

The picturesque tree-lined streets of Vasastan have a homey feel to them, as this is mostly a residential area. An abundance of small local restaurants populates the area, mainly concentrated around Odenplan and Sankt Eriksplan. Vasastan also boasts several beautiful parks, such as Vasaparken and Observatorielunden, where locals and visitors can relax and enjoy the tranquility of nature.

It is an engineering marvel, the world's steepest steam-operated railway. This is Tasmania's West Coast Wilderness Railway, and it is 28 tonnes of special. Today, passengers are moved by the same locomotives that began the run from Queenstown back in 1896. They take a comfortable 16-kilometre run through the wildlands, uphill through spectacular landscapes and down to a place called Dubbill Barrill, with stops for a little gold panning and sightseeing. These locos were originally built to move copper ore for the Mount Lyell Mining and Railway Company, delivering the mine's deep riches out of a massive, landlocked deposit at Queenstown to the port of Strahan, and from there, to the world. And every passenger is greeted by one of the line's original workhorses, a 28-tonne steam locomotive that's ready to roll — and guaranteed to raise a smile.

The Pâquier is a big, free lawn located next to the lake in the centre of the town. Given to the town probably by the Count of Menton to hold the military exercises of the young soldiers, it is now a very peaceful area where it is allowed to picnic.
