Penn's Landing is a popular destination along the Delaware River Waterfront, offering a range of seasonal activities, including kayaking, swan boats, and boat parades. It’s also a hub for festivals and celebrations, such as those on National Marina Day. History enthusiasts can explore historic naval vessels, including the USS Olympia and USS Becuna, both preserved at the Independence Seaport Museum. The Philadelphia Zoo holds the distinction of being America’s first zoo, having opened its doors in 1874. It attracted over 228,000 visitors in its debut year and remains one of the city’s prime attractions, now welcoming around 1.2 million visitors annually. Home to more than 1,300 rare and endangered animals, the zoo is renowned for its innovative exhibits, such as the Zoo360 animal exploration trails. Visitors can also enjoy unique experiences like swan boat rides, camel safaris, and even tethered balloon rides, providing panoramic views of the zoo.

The Bill Williams River National Wildlife Refuge is found at the far reaches of southeastern Lake Havasu. Rumored to contain the largest surviving cottonwood-willow woodlands of the lower Colorado River, the Refuge covers 6,000 acres. Perhaps most importantly, the Bill Williams River serves as a comfortable refuge to over 300 species of birds and waterfowl. There are a number of endangered species currently in propagation, including the razorback sucker fish and bony-tail chubs, which are indigenous to the Bill Williams River. Additionally, the Audubon Society named the Refuge an area of global significance in 2011.

Along the picturesque Bridgewater Channel is the London Bridge Beach, a pet-friendly beach with an enclosed dog park, basketball and sand volleyball courts and even a community stage. As the name implies, the beach maintains a perfect view of the famous London Bridge. Pets are allowed outside of the enclosed park if leashed, and day mooring is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
