According to tradition, this church was constructed on the site of the former Gothic Parish of Saint Julian after the image of the Virgin Mary was unearthed following the city's recapture from Moorish rule. The building is a Baroque temple designed in the shape of a Latin cross, with a Neoclassical facade displaying the anagram of Our Lady of Monserrate. Inside, the Hallazgo chapel contains a cave where the image of the Virgin Mary is believed to have appeared. Above this site, the old niche is now dedicated to the Cristo de la Buena Muerte. The high altar is home to the niche containing the Virgin of Monserrate, the city's patron saint.

Hundreds of palms, tropical trees, shrubs, ferns, orchids and other flowering plants grace the 30 hectares of grounds, glasshouses, ponds and nurseries at the Botanical Gardens. A popular picnic spot for local families, as well as for tourists stopping by for having a break from sightseeing.

Some 30 kilometres east of Montego Bay is the Martha Brae Rafting Village, where one can embark on an unmissable journey along the lush banks of Martha Brae on board a bamboo raft steered by an experienced local captain. Tours may include stops for bathing, picking up refreshments from floating bars, and a visit to the Herb Garden.

The three small houses in Sevedstorp were the inspiration for Astrid Lindgren's books about the Bullerby Children. In the summertime, the village comes to life, with different animals, and fun activities. In one of the barns, you'll find Café Sörgården where waffles, Swedish cheesecake, and other goodies are served.
