Drepano Beach is a long, pebbly shore on the Gulf of Corinth, known for its clear waters and a calm, relaxed atmosphere. Its consistent winds make it a popular spot for windsurfing and kitesurfing, with several nearby schools offering lessons and equipment. You can rent a sunbed at one of the organised beach bars or find a quieter stretch for yourself. To make a day of it, explore the sandbar to the west with the Drepano Lighthouse at its base, visit the adjacent Calma Waterpark, or simply enjoy the food and drink at the waterfront venues.

Due to Geneva’s ideal location by the lake, you can enjoy true city beach life at Bains des Pâquis, public bath houses on a pier in Lake Geneva, where you can swim with the local ducks and swans. This beach is very crowded during the summer and offers all-season activities, such as a sauna, massages and a Turkish bath during the winter.

La Fenice is a world-renowned opera house and a symbol of the Italian theatre tradition. Its name means "the phoenix", which suits the theatre very well, as it happened more than once that it burned down and had to be reconstructed. La Fenice was originally built in 1755 and witnessed several world-class performances, like the premiere of Verdi's La Traviata. Nowadays, you can either visit the theatre to see its magnificent interiors and learn about its rich history or enjoy a show there during the opera season.

At the highest point of the Old Town, Saint Pierre Cathedral dates back to the 12th century and is Geneva’s most visited monument. It’s known as John Calvin’s home church during the Reformation, and its underground archaeological site — the largest north of the Alps — offers a look at earlier layers of the city’s history. Brave visitors willing to climb the 157 steps of the north tower will be treated to a breathtaking panorama of both the city and the lake — worth it if the weather is clear.
