The 16th-century Santa Barbara Castle in Lanzarote was constructed not only to defend the island against pirate invasions but also to provide a safe haven for locals during such attacks. Today, this remarkable fortress is home to the Piracy Museum, where visitors can delve into the island's fascinating history of piracy and maritime conflict. Set atop a volcanic peak, the castle offers breathtaking scenic views of the surrounding landscape.

Aruba's uncharted-tropical-island vibes are at their best in this natural pool right at the oceanfront. Conchi is located in the Arikok National Park, completely uncultivated, and far away from the touristic areas. The star of the museum is the Antikythera Mechanism — an ancient hand-powered orrery, described as the oldest example of an analogue computer used to predict astronomical positions and eclipses decades in advance. This scientific marvel is dated somewhere between 205 and 60 BCE.

The Mercedes-Benz Museum is one of Stuttgart’s main tourist magnets. On its nine floors there are about 160 historic and brand new vehicles displayed, ranging from the world’s first automobiles to the noble Luxuskarossen. The extraordinary and award-winning architecture in the form of a double helix is certainly an attraction itself.
