Victory Arch or The Swords of Qadisiyyah, also known as the Hands of Victory, is one of Baghdad’s more striking monuments. It features two colossal statues of hands holding crossed swords that arch above the road. Erected during Saddam Hussein’s regime, it reflects the era’s characteristic style of monumental propaganda.

Al-Shaheed Martyrs Memorial is one of Baghdad’s most recognisable landmarks, commemorating the courage and sacrifice of Iraqis who fought in various wars. Designed by renowned Iraqi architect Ismail Fatah Al Turk, the monument was built between 1981 and 1983. Located about 4.5 kilometres north of Tahrir Square, near the Tigris River, the site forms part of a larger complex that includes well-maintained green spaces, trees, and an indoor park. Although the memorial is currently closed for renovations, as is the case with several historical sites in Iraq, you can always negotiate with the on-site guards for a closer look past the gate.

Its 14 kilometre-long beach makes Alcudia one of the island's most popular tourist destinations, especially among families. However, the city also has a lovely Old Town with picturesque narrow winding streets and beautiful old buildings, giving a real feeling of life in the old days.

Even though it stretches to the east from Grace Bay Beach, Leeward Beach is less crowded than its neighbouring counterpart, allowing you to find the perfect spot for relaxing on its shoreline. Walking here grants you the opportunity to enjoy the view of the many local resorts, but also to visit the Turks and Caicos Rock Iguana sanctuary. Other activities include water sports like wakeboarding and kayaking.
