Located on the shoreline of Lake Michigan, one of the U.S.'s five great lakes, Sleeping Bear Dunes is a natural wonder that has been marked for preservation for its awe-inspiring beauty and natural resources. It takes its name from a Native American legend concerning its formation. It consists of Sleeping Bear, Empire and Pyramid Point bluffs that overlook the lake, and Manitou Islands, which are located about 15 miles offshore. There are numerous activities available to visitors of the park that include camping, hiking, kayaking and canoeing, biking, skiing, fishing, or simply exploring the myriad of ecosystems that are home to a diversity of plants and wildlife.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is one of Italy’s (and the world’s) most recognisable landmarks—but the tilt that made it famous wasn’t part of the plan. Construction started in the 12th century, and the soft ground caused it to lean almost from the beginning. Up close, it’s oddly striking, almost like a lopsided wedding cake, and yes, you can still climb it.

Monestario De La Cartuja is an elaborate Baroque monastery and church, constructed between the 16th and 18th centuries. The Sanctuary and Sacristy are particularly impressive. Within the brick walls you can enjoy breathtaking gardens and experience how clerics and monks lived in times past.
