Built in 1901 by Frank Stranahan, Fort Lauderdale's founding father, as a trading post and converted into a residence for the Stranahans in 1906, the Stranahan House is Ft. Lauderdale’s oldest standing structure and a perfect example of 'Florida Frontier' architecture. In its many incarnations, this building has been a post office, general store, town hall and today, is a small museum that teaches about South Florida Pioneer life.

The Fremont Street Experience is a highly successful attempt to draw the millions of visitors back to the downtown area. The domed-canopy 90 feet (27,5 meters) above the street was constructed along five city blocks, lined with some of the oldest casinos in Las Vegas. Every evening from sundown to midnight, the canopy becomes a giant screen showing high resolution images accompanied by concert-quality sound. At the top of each hour, visitors pour into the streets, looking skyward in anticipation of one of the six different shows lasting six to nine minutes.

Notre Dame And Saint Castor is a massive church building from 1096, with a delicate interior that has some of the best examples of Roman sculpture in France.

Right near the cathedral in Fira, MATI showcases work by Yorgos Kypris—mostly sculptures and installations using glass and metal. Sea life and island themes run through a lot of it, but it’s not your typical tourist art. Bold, modern, and a bit different from what you’ll see elsewhere on the island.
