Located on an island in the River Weser, the Weserburg museum is an exhibition space that extends over 4,000 square metres. Its exhibits feature works of internationally famous artists alongside pieces created by the next generation of local talents. Apart from art, the Weserburg houses Europe's largest collection of publications and documents about art, ranging from postage stamps to books, films and vinyl records. It is an archive, a research institute and an exhibition space, all rolled into one.

Lake McKenzie on Fraser Island is probably the most well-known freshwater lake in Australia. Located 100 metres above the sea level, it is classified as a 'perched lake', which means that all of the crystal-clear water comes from the rain. High levels of acidity in the lake and the fact that all nutrients have been washed out of the shimmering white silica sand make the water unsuitable for nearly all forms of plant and fish life. It is likely the purest water you'll ever dip your toes in. The Aboriginal name for the lake is Boorangoora, which means 'waters of wisdom'. It was and still is known as a place for decision-making.

The monumental Masjid Nasional Al-Akbar is a spectacular modern mosque, one of the most imposing in Southeast Asia, let alone Indonesia itself. Access is open to visitors, and the top of one of its minarets offers spectacular views over the city (staff will guide you to the elevator on request).
